Dear Reader,
How are you doing this month so far? I’d love to know. (And, who are you rooting for in the World Cup? Or is your team already out?)
I’m writing today because there’s a free event that will be of interest to many folks on this list, called the Faculty Uplift.
It happens next week, and I’m one of the speakers.
The summit brings together more than 20 people who work with academics, and the topics cover a pretty wide range: wellbeing, mindset, writing, funding, mentoring, team dynamics, and careers.
So, it’s not just “how to be more productive as a scholar.”
My own session is about academic culture and career decision-making: how the stories academia tells about success, security, freedom, flexibility, and meaningful work can shape your thinking long after those stories stop serving you.
You don’t need to be actively leaving academia to get something from this.
You might be questioning what you want next.
You might be trying to stay in academia without losing yourself.
You might be wondering whether your definition of success is actually yours.
Or you might just want a thoughtful, low-pressure way to reflect before the new academic year starts creeping up on you.
👉 You can register for free here: The Faculty Uplift.
Each day’s sessions (13–16 July) are free for 48 hours.
There’s also a US$79 VIP Pass if you want longer access to the recordings, transcripts, and three live sessions on Friday, July 17. That’s optional, of course.
My friends Echo Rivera, Anna Clemens, and Jennifer Askey are also participating, among other great folks.
Cheers,
Jen
