Last week, 90 professors, postdocs, and other PhDs joined me for a live workshop to reflect on whether it’s time to leave academia.
The reasons were varied: constant job insecurity, burnout, disillusionment—so many overlapping crises, eh?—values misalignment, or simply a desire for something different.
What united participants was not wanting to do this alone, and wanting clarity about what’s next. Yes, please!

This is my small-group program for long-time academics who are ready to find their way out of academia.

This is all great to do before you’re on your way out the door, or even sure you want to go, if that’s where you’re at.
And hey, if staying put turns out to be the right choice, you’ll have the clarity you need to make confident career decisions going forward, including what opportunities to jump at and which to pass on to your colleagues.
To put it another way:
You don’t need to know yet exactly what you want to do next.
You just need to want to figure it out, and then make choices that align with your values, needs, priorities, and goals.
