New Report on PhD Career Transitions in Canada

The Council of Canadian Academies’ new government-sponsored report, Degrees of Success, is now out and available to read in English and French.

The report is a response to the question, “What are the main challenges that PhD students in Canada face in transitioning to the labour market, and how do these differ by field of study?”

There’s a lot of information in here, useful for anyone wanting to know the state of current research on PhD graduates experiences on the labour market, both within and beyond academia. I hope this report leads to positive change — at the individual supervisor level, as well as within programs, departments, universities, and at the policy level. There’s more research to do, too.

Here’s the link to download the full report, the news release, and a two-page infographic of main findings.
